Thank you for stopping by the Golden Strip Church Coalition Website.

The Golden Strip Church Coalition is a coalition of about a dozen churches in the Golden Strip area of Upstate, South Carolina.  Our mission statement reads: A non-profit, ecumenical Christian ministry working to break the cycle of poverty in Golden Strip communities by partnering with Habitat for Humanity Greenville County to build decent, safe and affordable  housing for low-income families.

The main purpose of the coalition is to allow smaller churches with limited resources the opportunity to join together and build a Habitat for Humanity home.

Why Habitat for Humanity?  Habitat’s goal to help break the cycle of poverty is accomplished by giving families an opportunity to build equity and future wealth through home ownership.  In addition to the building of equity by paying down a mortgage on the home, the zero interest loans provided to the new homeowner allows them to own a home at a lower cost than their current rent payments.
